Flowers

The flower concession outside Key Food on Atlantic did not go gently into Mother's Day. It stocked up. And the peonies went from $10 a bunch to $12, plus tax. I'll try tomorrow when things have calmed down again.

Via the Internet, roses and tulips, lilies and gerberas and more roses flew to Beloeil in Quebec, and to Constantia in Cape Town...

It was easier to choose flowers for North America, because, in amongst the Derby hat-like Arrangements (frill!froth!ribbon!stuff!more stuff!), there is at least a semblance of simplicity about some of the offers. But South Africa was harder for a purist. I like to send just flowers. Not flowers with stuff. Green stuff, white stuff. Fluff. Just flowers.

Flowers sans fluff. My motto.

  1. LOL, never mind the stock market's fluctuations, it's the flowers' that's scary...

  2. Just flowers. Yes. That's why we never got such wonderful bouquets. It usually IS stuff. All kinds of stuff with one or two meager flowers lost in the middle. And green fill-in and huge ribbons and bla bla bla... but yours...aaaaah, Just. Flowers. Gorgeous.
