Wisteria beans are not edible

They are poisonous. But they will not kill you. You'll just get sick.

Sorry. Just a little shriek in response to many searches that land on this blog asking whether wisteria beans are edible. I write about rooftop beans, I write about ornamental beans, I write about wisteria, and they flock, led by search engines, finding no answer. So here it is.

No, no, no!

Bad dog! Spit!

The flowers, however, are edible. I know it's too late, but sprinkle them onto some pancakes next spring.
