The University of Bristish Columbia's Botany Photo of the Day pick was my photo of the Astrantia major in the Battery Conservancy Garden. Thanks to blog reader and artist Toinette Lipp for the email telling me about it, or I would not have known. And thanks to Vince for lending me his camera lense for the day!
I think it's quite funny that they link to my Flickr account where, if you click it at the moment, you are faced with a plate of pig, not flowers...
The Botany Photo of the Day is drawn from the UBC's Flickr group and a picture is chosen every day to illustrate a discussion of that particular plant. It's very interesting and informative, and the garden forums on the website itself have answered many niggling botanical questions for me.
Great use of field and background for this lovely photo.
