A composed salad
And not only a salade composée but a salad calm enough to settle nerves of most kinds. The garlic-rubbed toasted baguette, soft eggs and vinegary-olive oily dressing dripped over watercress and bibb lettuce can make it seem unimportant. A day running around New York, throw in some Times Square (aaaaaaaaaaaaah!), salt it with some Toys R Us (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!) top it off with some FAO Schwarz (naaaaaaaaaaaah!) and finish it with a ride on Jane's Carousel (wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!)...phew.

Composition may be important, but I rank composure pretty high, too!
ReplyDeleteHope you are also enjoying a nice glass of wine, after that day!!
ReplyDeleteMust've been a kid in tow. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Frank, only a well-loved child could make me plan that itinerary! Hope there was a nice glass of South African white to accompany the salad.
ReplyDeleteThe best part for me would be seeing Jane's Carousel. I've read so much about it.
