This is what was inside the mystery packet. The assembled burger, before wrapping. That's a chimichurri-ish sauce on top: parsley, garlic, lime, a little sugar.
The Unwrapped. And yes, that is an English muffin. We like Gabriella Hamilton's Prune burger, a lot. She does the muffin thing.
And, I promise, our previous evening's supper was entirely vegetable: burdock stems, carrots and shallots, a la Grecque (basically a slow-cooked emulsion of lemon and olive oil with the vegetables, and lots of aromatics - coriander seeds, parsley, fennel, celery, garlic). On basmati rice. Vegetable comfort food.
But these burgers are Frenchman comfort food. And one must comfort one's Frenchman when one can.
Mustn't one?
Oui
ReplyDeleteIndeed, one must. (One's Man is currently being comforted by a neighbour - pasta, chicken,salads...she's 24 carat!)
ReplyDelete(I hope Storbie's card arrives cos the Post Office man informed me today that he'd sold me stamps for the old rate!)
I am a huge fan of your blog. I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota, have a son who moved to New York several years ago. He's almost 28, makes documentaries, and currently lives in Inwood. I love your blog, the way you write, your spectacular photos and the things you write about. I love seeing New York through your eyes. Thank you for making it a real place for me, not just a huge city filled with skyscrapers and commuters!
ReplyDeleteBack to your last post which I had the misfortune to read in the gym so not only could I not comment but I made a complete ass out of myself jumping up and down and pumping my fist.
ReplyDeleteBut then I was in a gym.....
Congratulations wonder woman. I, among many, am so proud of and excited for you.
And as I look around my house I don't think you could have found a better publisher. So many of my favorite books came from that house.
Love and hugs to all of you.

Thank you, Marianne - that's very nice of you
jane - thank you! :-) You're a good (unmet) friend. I'm so glad you say that, too - choosing the right publisher was very tough. I, too, love their books. They felt right.

ReplyDeleteI just knew it was a burger! Loved the reference to Prune. I read Blood Bones and Butter and highly recommend. One day I hope to get to Prune for a meal. (a long way from Georgia though. Will be looking for your book.
