Central Park on flower time

After an appointment with a carpenter (windowboxes) on the Upper East Side yesterday I had time for a quick walk down ten blocksworth of Central Park, before hoofing it back to the subway and the opposite side of the city.

It was a gorgeous day. Oh, for a picnic, a giant kikoi and an afternoon of hours.

The magnolias are approaching peak bloom, and the early cherries are at the height of it. Frilly, flouncy Kanzans in about a week, I think. The BBG and Roosevelt Island will have wonderful displays.

  1. I love this time of the year. I live in Brooklyn and yesterday passed by the Pratt campus and was surprised to see all their trees blooming - it looked so beautiful!

  2. Wow, I so miss the spring since I've moved to Florida. Looking at your pictures, I can just feel the air and smell the trees. I hated winter, but those first warm spring days were so wonderful, and really worth the wait.

  5. I'm heading out to the BBG on Sunday to see those cherry blossoms, hope they're still there waiting for me! Although, looks like i can see some serious cherry blossom beauty just a few blocks from my apt in central park.
