Thank you for all your suggestions for what to lay the vines on - in the end I went as low tech no-money as I could and appropriated some reed fencing that had been abandoned by my neighbours and laid it on the tartop, weighted down, to protect the little fruits from possible scorching.We enjoyed temperatures of 36'C/96'F yesterday and look forward to 37'C/98'F tomorrow.
