Cocktail menu for a new book

Today, 66 Square Feet - A Delicious Life is officially released. If you pre-ordered it, it should be on its way to you, or in your possession.

Here's a peek at the cocktail menu I am planning for its launch party on Saturday at Book Court. Yes, you should come!

The pork belly (transformed into rillettes in this case, not served whole, as a roast) and the avocado cream are from the menus in the book. The black currant chutney is the result of my headscratching regarding what to do with all my gin-soaked currants, after straining the gin off, recently. The crunchy phyllo triangles are a celebration of things wild and green. And because I have to be nice to vegetarians!

The Rhus Hour (...get it?) is a sumac-based cocktail from the book.

(And for a chance to win a copy of 66 Square Feet - A Delicious Life, visit Gardenista and tell them about your favourite garden-to-table recipe)

  12. If the book is anything like your blog, it will be wonderful. My copy was shipped yesterday and should arrive by Friday! We're in rural upstate NY, so things happen more slowly here and we frequently experience sweet expectations.

  15. Look forward to getting my copy--and then I'll sell it on e-bay for big bucks!! (Kidding.. It will go in the kitchen shelf where I keep my manly recipes, mostly grilling.)

Loved reader Nancy Mc's revealing phrase, "sweet expectations." I had a fine professor who suggested that the emotion (skill?) which keeps us focused, energized and forward-looking is that we keenly anticipate the renewed experience of "pleasurable expectations." He gave the example of a chance encounter with an elegant lady in Paris, a rainy day, her flat, the gray, cool mist sifting though an open window, a mattress on the floor.. You get the idea.

Anyway, it will also prove to be a sweet expectation realized when your book arrives at Wicomico Church, VA.

(Is Estorbo fuming at all the attention coming your way?)
