Flower power on the terrace


A hawk moth buzzed the Silk Road lilies this evening and disappeared over the roof. I looked at the flowers carefully this afternoon, after seeing this bee go right into one: drops hanging from the petals turned out to be spicily sweet nectar, thick as syrup.

The last flower picture reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey, when Bowman is tumbling down the rabbit hole in the pod after falling into the monolith...

And I've had a single sip of my red wine.

What's that top flower? Cosmos? I actually said 'ooh', when it first appeared and that surprised me almost as much as the photo. Ha.

the sky colors in the last pic are fabulous and the plant silhouettes make me think of tropical palm trees. Your macro lens is fantastic with the bee shots.
