The leaves of the so-called Abyssinian gladiolus, from the highlands of Ethiopia. It will bloom in about a week, I think. The blooms are gorgeous jewels and are sometimes called Peacock Flower. I always pick up a little packet on sale when they cost about $3 for ten. But they are never expensive, and these were planted in late June, I think.
