Cape Town in December

...can be very windy. It is the season of the southeaster, the "Cape Doctor". But not today, not here, at No. 9 which is in some kind of wind shadow. Even when the poplars roar, the garden can be quiet.

A steppe buzzard  (Butea vulpinus) glides high above these trees, now, keening, on a hot day thermal.

  1. We've had such a nice growing year, that it seems greedy to long for your wonderful SA winter, err I guess it's really summer there. You're very generous to share it with us.

  2. Estorbo has been uncharacteristically quiet while you've been gone.. have he and the corgis called a truce?
