Foraging pictures on display

If you are interested in edible wild plants and happen to be in the vicinity of Ithaca, in upstate New York, visit Cornell University's Mann Library whose exhibition Beyond the Garden Wall, curated by Liz Brown, runs through the end of September. I am thrilled to have some of my photographs of wild foods included in it.

Closer to (my) home, and starting next week in the World Financial Center's Winter Garden - that's the enormous, palm-filled glass dome (above, right) that opens onto the North Cove Yacht Basin which Vince and I like so much - is a month-long themed multi-media exhibition called Looks Delicious. I am very happy to have some of my foraging images included there, too, courtesy of Edible magazine, as part of a digital exhibition on their Big (big) TV. The schedule is as follows:

Until August 12th:

Wednesdays
12:00 – 12:30pm
Fridays
6:00 – 6:30pm
Sat / Sun
10:00 – 10:30am

From August 13th:

Wednesdays
4:00 – 4:30pm
Fridays
5:00 – 5:30pm
Sat / Sun
10:00 – 10:30am

The Winter Garden and its outdoor plazas and plane trees, where a cold beer can be sipped while you look out over the bobbing yachts and behemoth cabin cruisers in the small marina, is a superb refreshment station at the top or sometimes mid point of a beautiful walk up or down along the lower western edge of Manhattan island.

Green all the way, flanked by the Hudson, and filled with gardens, it is somehow very European in feel. Anchored in the south by Piet Oudolf's Battery Bosque (above) - I wonder if his fall anemones are in bloom, now, too? - the High Line is for me the northern point of this tour, although there's no reason why you should stop there:

If you wanted to, you could carry on all the way to Inwood. As long as you promise to stop and forage.
