At least the plants have no idea what's coming. They liked the sudden rain.
I am not a tropical plant person. Does anyone know what these are? They have been living indoors but I put them out for the shower.
[Thank you, Kath (comments): Maranta leuconeura, prayer plant - and they do hold their leaves upright at night. From Brazil.]
Your mystery plants are Red Prayer Plants. http://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/prayer-plant/maranta-prayer-plant-peacock-plant.htm
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the rain shower. I wish we'd get one here! We've had unseasonably hot weather, upper 90s in June in Seattle (!), and we haven't have any measurable rain since early June. It is very crispy here and the plants are already looking late summer tired :-). Your garden looks lush!
ahhhhh rain. Living in drought stricken California, I dream of standing in a day long downpour.
ReplyDeleteYes, thise are prayer plants - their leaves should fold together (as if in prayer) at night.
ReplyDeleteLooks so tropical and lush!
ReplyDeleteWe had a heatwave in the UK a couple of weeks ago, just in time for the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. Hot hot hot!! Now it's raining as per the UK summers!
Loved the rain on your lush plantings, I bet they were happy. Wish we could send some of that West, we are parched out here.
ReplyDeleteI adore that photo, just lovely...it makes me yearn for tropical plants, and I just returned from the Mediterranean coast of France and Italy. Have you seen the gardens at Villa Ephrussi de Rothchild? Ohhhhhh.....
