Waiting
Waiting for spring. Above, the bluestone sidewalk beside Cobble Hill Park. By the end of March the daffodils should be in bloom beside the wrought iron railing, followed in late April by the crabapple I call Kate Winslet. Some unhappy roses (not good colours, not enough sun, not enough TLC) will bloom in May in the centre of the park, in their little kraal of clipped ilex within an ugly green dog fence, then the day lilies, bright orange, the sweet Linden trees that hang over the street in June and last, the Golden Rain Tree.
Above, the balcony that hangs above East Houston Street at 2nd Avenue. I believe the burlapped pot contains a prickly (cactus) pear. I'd prefer this building to be Schnabel pink, but green is better than nothing, even though it resembles teal - an unfortunate colour that I prefer not to acknowledge.
Patience is a virtue..... an' all that. I don't have it either.
ReplyDelete"an unfortunate colour that I prefer not to acknowledge" made me laugh.
Have a good weekend!
People always want teal flowers in their arrangements and corsages???
ReplyDeleteWhat that be I say.

Rob - hm, yes, not my virtue, either...Thanks, and happy weekend to you, too!
ReplyDeleteJane - teal, I think not of the duck but of a somber, flat, dead green, painted on the walls of rooms I don't want to be in. I do not associate it with nature!
