The black cherries have hit their stride at last.
These larger ones, name unknown, carried home from Dig two and a half months ago, and subsequently afflicted with mealie bug, drought, and jet fumes, taste delicious.
We are eating - let me rephrase that - I am eating leaves from the roof, daily. I love them. Yes, Mommy, I will send microgreen seed. They are lovely. Like my radish?
A plate of vitamins.
I am now going to visit some bees and chickens a couple of blocks away. Who knew? Thank you, Keith, for the introduction. I will take some microgreens for the feathery girls. I think they will like them.
I am jealous and humbled. Our tomatoes have been gone for a month now. We are reduced to buying them at the farmers market and they have not been good.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next year, yes?
Perhaps we'll forgo the garden and grow them on the roof...
I cut back our tomatoes this morning; we will have had frost by the time we return. Your Mexican cherry tomato was the champion of the season; it was prodigious and we thank you!
ReplyDeletethose are the tastiest looking vitamins I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteI am taking inspiration from your roof garden. Here in southwest england we have a tiny urban back garden where for the last couple of years we have been trying to grow some produce. We've had very mixed success and certainly don't regularly get to eat from the garden. We have a single storey kitchen at the back of the house which has an almost flat roof. Have been thinking about growing some stuff up there next year. How do you get water to your roof garden? I'll have to see if I'm still fit enough to climb a ladder next spring!
ReplyDeleteVeggie garden is dead, dead, dead. Have even let the okra go to dry naturally on the stalks. But hope springs eternal - plan to plant some fall greens today. Maybe next year I can invest in a reservoir somewhere.
ReplyDeleteWow, that plate of tomatoes looks gorgeous. So many beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteThe radish is exactly what a radish should be. Am seriously thinking of a vegetable garden on the patio, radishes included. Had lunce, with martinis, at The Cellars. Sorry Vince/Beence
Knowledge is to know that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. :-)
ReplyDeleteKari - Ek weet nie wat van my comment geword het nie tensy ek jou 'n epos gestuur het en vergeet het nie - maar stuur my asseblief you adres, sodat die saad by jou uitkom...
