I burst out laughing reading this post Marie. When my brother and I were young and saw an animal beside the road (!) my sweet mother would say "Oh look it's sleeping". LOL I still say that in my head when I see roadkill. A much nicer thought for the day, even if yours is still breathing.
We have one of the bird feeders with the cage around it so the squirrels can't get into it. It doesn't prevent them from trying though and it can be quite entertaining to watch.
I have only those bad squirrels at my house, but I have noticed that they don't care for safflower seeds. The birds love it, but I get dirty looks from the squirrels when I put safflower in the feeder.
Oh! Good squirrel is a blackie! I fell in love with one in Stanley Park. They all probably just think of you as the corner convenience store!
