Evening, to contemplate

...how much mint makes a good mojito.

The sunset pink on the next door building.

The mystery of the hole. Who keeps digging it, between the marjoram and the unhappy strawberry?

Several mornings in a row. I don't think the squirrel. I think a bird, for a sort of dust bath - it's so smooth.

And it throws all the soil down into the neighbor's deserted backyard. We even set up a time lapse camera, to catch it. But that time it did not come.

And how long it will be before the Nicotiana decides to snap at the waist?

  1. you are teasing us. Little glimpses of the terrace. A pot, some dirt, a sliver of green but not the whole thing. Sigh.... How long must we wait?

  2. I hope you catch the varmint in the act. Perhaps it is a bird, but my squirrels love dust baths.

  6. Marie - I saw a HUGE dust bath at Churchaven. Very similar... but dusted as it was with a few fragments of ostrich feather, no doubt whodunnit. You are far away!! Mooi loop Blommetjie.

  7. My husband and I just returned from a concert in Saratoga Springs this evening. As we were driving back we passed a house with a very steep driveway. A movement caught my eye. It was a ginger tabby rolling around on the dirt driveway. Is it possible that a certain feline (we won't mention any names) might be the culprit? Or, possibly the other black cat you spotted?

    1. ...not unless they have grappling hooks. Estorbo's hooks don't grapple anymore, and there is no way for the downstairs kitty to get up.

  8. Marie, did you ever discover who or what bathed in the dirt?
I am peeking here every other day, my balcony is also around 66 sqft (exactly 12 1/2 x 5) , originally I discovered you and your wonderful blog on my search for ideas on the www.

    1. No, never did. It apparently did not like our surveillance exercises. My guess is still a dove. Good luck with your own 66 Square Feet!
