Strangers on a train

The 4 train to Brooklyn. The little boy and the man had never met, but got on pretty well, with the help of the man's smartphone. The little boy's grandfather is sitting just to his other side.

Life in the big, bad city.

Call it smile-at-your-neighbour Thursday.

  1. Considering the rest of the news today, this is an especially lovely respite. Many thanks, Marie.

  2. I like the expression on the woman's face. The woman in red, or is it orange? There's a sweet smile lurking there because she's enjoying the interaction so much.

  3. That is a picture (and a story) worthy of HONY. Made me smile on a hard day.

  5. That made me happy too after a long week of rain, rain, rain. AND = snow on Table Mountain -the other side.

  6. I love when little kids get interested in what's happening on my phone on the train. It's always good times, and makes up for the occasionally terrible rides.

  7. Maybe there's hope for us after all.

  8. The city I live in is torn between two communities: a French and a Dutch-speaking one. Both communities don't like this city: it's dangerous, dirty, ... The people who make these "statements" don't live here. They read the papers, filled with bad news about this city. If only they could see these wonderful interactions between people taking place here. But, honestly, that is wishful thinking. They are afraid of the "unknown", and I don't need to tell anyone that that fear leads to a lot of bad stuff! The divide between the city and the country-side... At least in my tiny little country! Thank you for sharing the picture! It's precisely how I would describe "my" Brussels :-)
