Hot artichoke dip

Currently underway, hot artichoke dip. Not peppery-hot, but bubbling-and-melty-with-strings-of-cheese-hot. And really bad for you and also really good for you, because it makes you happy, and reminds you of the cold, cold night on Grouse Mountain outside Vancouver, British Columbia, after a walk in the snow, and a quick, chilly question asked, and happy answer given, upon which we headed inside into the suitably wood paneled lodge and ate this dip and drank cold beer, with the city and its bays and inlets and hills sparkling in the black of the night far below us.

Fast forward to Rivington Street, below Houston: This is also still Freeman Alley-inspired. Their dip is wonderful. I don't know their recipe, but this one comes pretty darn close.

Details tomorrow.

  5. Very yummy! I have a similar dip that has both artichokes and spinach and of course, lots of the lovely gooeyness too!

jelli - I am sorry for your loss. I had to say goodbye to my feline friend of over 18 (!) years two months ago. I miss her terribly so I know you do too.

  6. Jelli, I had to say goodbye to two beloved canine companions this year, so understand exactly what you are going through. My sympathies, may the memories of your wonderful times together give you comfort.

  7. I'm so touched! Thank you lovely people for your kind words x They break your heart, don't they? His posh pedigree name was Cories Laird, but he was Lou, my blue merle border collie. Seven years ago I lost his sister Skye to epilepsy and four days later my cat Bean, 14 (Wow, Katie C, 18?!)and that was the week after my birthday too - its like they waited. Still have Moll, a black lab cross rescue who is a delight and who, along with the cats, is helping to smooth the days... xx

    1. Wow, you sure had a lot dumped on you in a short amount of time...is it time to visit the animal shelter yet? We waited two months and adopted Buttercup (who in their right mind names a dark grey and white cat Buttercup?!), a nine month old "kitten" from the animal shelter that we renamed Molly. She has springs in her toes! Cat "integration" is still underway. Lucy, the resident, is not happy - her territory is being invaded. She got very spoiled those two months that we waited. Anyway, we think we have two beta cats which is pretty funny now. A lot of noise and posturing but no body contact - yet. Today is the first day that we are leaving both cats with full run of the house without human supervision. I hope the house is still standing when we get home from work!
