September's flowers, New York


That was September! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.

As usual, a mix of native and introduced flowers from parks and gardens.

Nicotiana sylvestris, BBG; Solidago, Central Park; Clematis paniculata (autumn clematis), Central Park
Water lilies, Central Park; Ageratina altissima (snakeroot), Prospect Park, Lobelia siphilitica, BBG
Hosta 'Royal Standard', Central Park; Rosa rugosa, Jamaica Bay;  Solidago caesia, Prospect Park
Eurybia divaricata (white wood aster), Jamaica Bay; Impatiens capensis (jewelweed), Prospect Park; Spiranthes cernua (nodding ladies tresses), Jamaica Bay.

  1. a-ha! You just solved my mystery. I had Nicotiana cropping up all over my garden and thought it was a weed. But a very orderly weed, since it was planted all in a row. I had forgotten I planted a whole packet of seeds, 'til now. D'oh. Lovely photos, Marie!
