Post mortem, terrace

Well, she blew by. We were up on the roof somewhere in the wee hours, maybe sometime after 3, as something was rolling around and I thought a satellite dish had worked itself loose. A gust must have blown whatever it was off before I got up there with a flashlight. I found nothing.

Now, dry air, tugging wind, a collapsed New Dawn rose, but otherwise it is all over. We have a bathful of clean water. Maybe I'll snorkel in it.

We will go out and have a look. Good mushroom weather.

  1. I'm glad to read you are all safe, and the damage is minimal. Our turn now in Boston. The storm seems weakened but in 25 years here I have never seen wind like this, a strong gale in one direction, then the next moment, equally strong in the opposite direction. Overall not too bad so far.

  2. Looks like everyone's safe and happy. All I can say is whew. And break out the wine and heirlooms ... subways still closed till tomorrow noon, they're saying. Revel on!

  7. Rachel - but I like snorkeling :-)

John - how was your rain, then? VT doesn't look too good.

revel gardener - heirlooms tomorrow. Wobbly tuna mousse tonight!

Frank - Yes, Staten Island. When? Hoping for some chickens...hmmm.

    Monica, thanks very much.

Rob - I am hoping so. From what others are posting the ground is making little popping noises as they break the surface.

Carol - thanks, no, nothing for us, we were lucky.

Tzipporah - your concern for the plants is touching :-)Tomorrow, the big rearrange...some heavy lifting.

  13. So glad you are all safe. Mother Nature is making her noise on the East Coast this Summer. I hope she is finished because everyone needs some peace. On the other hand, I am looking forward to our first rain because our California ground is so dry this time of year. We sometimes have mushrooms growing in our winter ground, but I imagine you will soon have an abundance. New mushroom recipes soon to follow?
